Information For Parents 2

EDUCATIONAL VISITS.
Throughout the programme of learning, relevant educational visits are undertaken. These consolidate the child's experiences and increase their acquisition of knowledge. With the expense of transport and entry costs to many establishments, it has become increasingly necessary for us to ask for parental contributions to assist the funding of visits. Back to top
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.
General Clubs, such as Board Games or Art, are available for the children, Drama Club once a week and Saturday morning football. Violin, piano, guitar and recorder lessons are also available - some through Kent Music School.
We are a rural school, and we could become rather isolated. Therefore we encourage contact with other schools. This is undertaken in a variety of ways, but predominantly in the pursuit of sporting activities - Football , Netball , Tag Rugby matches and tournaments and Athletics Tournaments in the Summer Term. CLUSTER ORGANISATION.
The children also join with other local schools in the Weald of Kent Primary Schools Music Association Festival each year.
Staff attend training events with colleagues from other schools. Back to top
ORGANISATION.
At present, the school is organised into four classes. Class 1 is the Reception class where the new entrants are received at rising five years and includes some Year 1 pupils. This year Class 2 is Year 2 and Year 1. Class 3 is Year 3 and 4. Class 4 is Year 5 and 6. Teaching Assistants support staff and pupils on a regular basis.

At Colliers Green School there is considerable flexibility as children are moved between classes at a stage appropriate to their individual needs.

In their final year at school, the children prepare for their transfer to secondary school. Angley School, in Cranbrook is our nearest secondary school and has a comprehensive intake and two Fast Track classes. At 13+ (Yr. 9) it is possible for some children to transfer to an Upper School, the nearest being Cranbrook School. The Headteacher is happy to discuss the full range of secondary schools with parents usually towards the end of Year 5. Back to top
P.T.F.A. (Parents, Teachers and Friends Association)

All parents are automatically members of the school P.T.F.A., which has an elected committee of enthusiasts who work to organise many events during the school year.

The main aim of the P.T.F.A. is to foster a valuable social relationship between parents and staff of the school, resulting in the raising of funds to improve school amenities for the benefit of all children. P.T.F.A. funds have recently helped to provide us with a new mobile classroom for class one children thus freeing a larger hall space for the benefit of all pupils. Back to top
